Frequently Asked Questions about ForteBio
ForteBio was founded in 2001 and raised its 1st funding round 4 years after it was founded.
ForteBio is headquartered in Menlo Park, United States. It is registered at Menlo Park, California, United States.
ForteBio is a funded company, having raised a total of $42.3M across 2 funding rounds to date.
ForteBio develops instruments for the real-time analysis of biomolecular interactions based on the companys proprietary Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI) techology - a label-free optical analysis method that measures biomolecular interactions by the changes in the interference pattern of white light reflected from two surfaces (a layer of immobilized protein on the biosensor tip, and an internal reference layer) due to changes in the number of molecules binding to the biosensor tip. The change in interference pattern can be measured in real time. Since only the molecules binding to the biosensor tip contribute to the change in interference patterns, and hence the signal, the system can be used to generate highly specific data from complex mixtures. The company has four main product lines. The Octet range is the all-inclusive instrumentation, reagent and assay-integrated system that enables the study of protein-protein interactions in 96 and 384 well plates. The Blitz product range enables label-free cell analysis for single researchers and standalone labs. In addition, it also manufactures the Dip and Read biosensors and assays, and the Ready BLI assay range. In Dec 2011, Pall acquired ForteBio for an undisclosed sum.
ForteBio has 7 investors. Key investors include Orbimed, Pall, Turmeric Acquisition Corp, Alloy Ventures, and Latterell Venture Partners.
