Touchstone Innovations creates, builds and invests in pioneering technology companies and licensing opportunities developed from outstanding scientific research focusing on the Golden Triangle - the geographic region broadly bounded by London, Cambridge, and Oxford. They support scientists and entrepreneurs in the commercialization of their ideas through protecting and licensing out intellectual property (through our Technology Transfer subsidiary, Imperial Innovations), by leading the formation of new companies, by recruiting high caliber management teams and by providing investment and encouraging co-investment. Following a fundraising in January 2011, Innovations began to make investments in opportunities arising from intellectual property developed at, or associated with, the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, and University College London (UCL). Since then around one-third of all of the Groups new companies have come from Imperial College London, one-third from the Cambridge cluster and the remainder from the University of Oxford, UCL and management teams and research organizations from around London. In addition to strong working relationships and networks within Cambridge, Oxford and at UCL, Innovations has a formal technology pipeline agreement with Imperial College London that extends until 2020. Under this agreement, we have exclusive commercialization rights over intellectual property developed at Imperial and we act as the Colleges technology transfer office. This relationship is handled through their subsidiary, Imperial Innovations, which also provides technology commercialization services to a number of NHS trusts in Northwest London.
