8 days agoThe Chennai Metro Rail Limited, a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, was created as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to implement the Chennai Metro rail project. This SPV, also known as 'Chennai Metro Rail Limited', was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The system, which utilizes standard gauge, consists of a combination of underground and elevated stations. In June 2009, the construction of the project began and on 29 June 2015, the first stretch covering seven stations from Koyambedu to Alandur, spanning a distance of 10 kilometers (6.2 mi), was inaugurated. The CMRL, recognized by the International Association of Public Transport, has been successfully providing efficient and modern transportation services to the people of Chennai.
