23 days agoThe story of Vidarbha Industries Power Limited, previously known as Reliance Mineral Resources Limited, begins in the bustling city of Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra. The company is dedicated to operating a domestic coal based project with a capacity of 600 MW (2X300 MW) at Butibori Industrial Area. It was a decision made by VIPL to operate the entire project as an Independent Power Producer (IPP). In order to fulfill this goal, the company signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (R-Infra), a distribution licensee in Mumbai and Mira Bhayandar area. This agreement was made under a cost-plus regime for the entire contracted capacity of 600 MW, with the supply of power starting from April 01, 2014. The company has also obtained approval from the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) for this project. The first unit of the project, Unit I, was declared commercially operational on April 03, 2013. The second unit, Unit II, was declared commercially operational on March 28, 2014. This marked a significant milestone for the company, as it was now able to provide power to the people of Maharashtra.
